Properties
Stearyl alcohol is a white solid or flakes.

Uses
Stearyl alcohol, a nonionic surfactant, is used as an emollient (skin softener),
emulsifier, and thickener in creams and lotions, shampoos and conditioners.

Research Studies
Korean researchers prepared melatonin-loaded microspheres by the emulsion
melting/cooling method using stearyl alcohol (SA) and also dual walled chitosan
and sodium alginate beads. [1]
